Phu Quoc National Park is among the Parks where the primitive forest is still remained in its original state. The beauty of this National Park is the combination of the forest, the ocean, stream, waterfall and mountain and hill. Phu Quoc island is located in the northwest of Kien Giang province where you can found a complex of beauty spots, historical relics – one of which is Phu Quoc National Park where you should not miss.
With the total area of about 31.422 hectares, Phu Quoc National Park is divided into three functional subzones: one is strictly protected (8.786 hectares), another is for the recovery of the ecological system (22.603 hectares) and the last is the administration-service-science research zone (33 hectares).
The Park occupies a diversified flora system featured by the evergreen forest growing on low mountains and hills. The main species include great perennial trees (cajuput, chestnut, wild mangosteen, etc), precious species of orchid and herb (liquorice, amomum, etc) and other parasitic species (orchid, fern, etc.)
Along with such diversified flora system, Phu Quoc National Park also comprises a large number of fauna species including 30 species of animal (five of which have been recorded in Vietnam’s Red Book like forest wolf, white monkey, pille gibbon, etc; 200 species of birds; 50 species of reptile, etc.
Besides, Phu Quoc Natinal Park also possesses many species of coral reef with various shapes and sizes. Among these are about 100 species of hard coral reef, 20 species of soft coral reef and 62 kinds of seaweed. In addition, there are many other kinds of fishes and marine precious species like dugong.
With such multiform ecological system, this is one of the ecological diversification center of the country. Currently, Phu Quoc National Park is being preserved and developed; along with that, many wild and valuable species are being multiplied and developed.
If you have chance to travel to Phu Quoc, do visit Phu Quoc National Park since it will provide you an interesting ecological environment which can not be found in other region of Vietnam. Tourists may have chance to take part in short tours to conquer and explore the Chua Mountain – the roof of Phu Quoc, which is located on Ham Ninh Mountain. Once reaching the top of the mountain, you will freely to observe the spacious and immense landscape of the whole region. Observed from such height, Phu Quoc looks like an aquarelle picture where the harmonious combination of the colors will satisfy your eyes: the green from forest, blue from the ocean, the purple, and red from many kinds of flower.
