About Phu My bridge in Ho Chi Minh city

Phu My Bridge is the largest cable-stayed bridge in Ho Chi Minh City, crossing Saigon River, linking districts 2 to district 7 and 9.

The building has a total investment of more than 2,000 billion VND, starting from September, 2005, 4 months ahead of schedule and inaugurated on September 2nd, 2009.

The bridge is one of the routes connecting Thu Thiem new urban area and Phu My Hung urban area.

The bridges is over 2,000 m long, 27.5 m wide, with six lanes for motorized vehicles, two lanes for rudimentary vehicles, allowing circulation of 100,000 vehicles per day.

The work is conducted by Bilfinger Berger Contractors (Germany), the general contractor of the project, along with other contractors including: Baulderstone Hornibrook (Australia), Freyssinet International et Companie and Arcadis (France).

The important role

Phu My Bridge after being inaugurated helps the circulation on Highway 1A from northern and central going through the Mekong Delta region of Ho Chi Minh City be shortened and contribute to reduce the overloaded traffic system in Saigon.
