Since ancient times, on the altars of the Dao family have the paintings with separate content. The worshipng paitings is different in content, form and size depending on the rich or poor of the host. The painting is drawn by the individual characters including kings and gods: Than Ngoc Thanh (To tac) who is considered as the god of the sky, Than Thuong Thanh (Lenh Pu) who is considered as the god of the earth, Than Thai Thanh (Lenh Si) – the god guarding the grave… It is the sacred gods that when worshipping are always placed above all other gods.

The meaning of new painting on New Year

To have a painting for New Year, the host of household must bring the ceremony to shaman’s house to ask him the host’s age suitable for which days of the month. The shaman will select good date for the owner, after the ritual is complete, to draw the painting.
